Garnier Racing Team Junior Coupe FIM Superstock 1000 4ème manche Misano (Italie) 21 juin 2009 Gregg Black s’est bien comporté, terminant 17ème après être parti de la 27ème position. La course qui devait se dérouler le dimanche matin a finalement eu lieu en fin d’après-midi en raison d’un accident initial dû en partie à une pluie très drue. Barrier, partant de la 6ème place sur la grille, terminait finalement 3ème après une lutte très intense contre des pilotes de haut niveau. Gregg Black faisait également du bon travail, compte-tenu du fait qu’il débute dans la catégorie. En compagnie de Sylvain Barrier sur le podium, on retrouvait l’excellent vainqueur Maxime Berger et le leader du championnat Xavier Siméon. Gregg Black : «Depuis hier, j’ai trouvé les bons réglages. J’ai réussi à avoir confiance dans l’avant de ma moto. J’ai pris un bon départ, puis j’ai été un peu enfermé. J’ai alors calmé le jeu et je suis remonté petit à petit. Antonelli m’a doublé à un moment et j’ai pris sa roue, mais une course de 9 tours est courte. Je suis content, j’ai fait de bons chronos. C’est bien pour le team. Maintenant, je veux marquer des points. » Michel Garnier, propriétaire du team : « Sylvain était déjà en tête le matin quand la course a été interrompue. Il est bien parti l’après-midi, figurant rapidement parmi les 5 premiers. Devant Maxime Berger et Xavier Siméon sont partis. Sylvain a eu l’intelligence d’être patient. Il a pris la troisième place au bon moment. Pour nous, c’est un week-end parfait. Si on continue comme ça, c’est de bon augure pour le championnat. On est à notre place. Gregg a fait une belle course. Il finit 17ème, mais il lui faut du roulage. Il devrait être plus libéré à partir de Donington. » Résultats de la course : 1 21 Berger M. Black did a good job, considering that he is a newcomer in the category. The future looks promising for the rookie team of Michel Garnier. Gregg Black: “We finally found the right setting. I was more confident with the front of the bike. I had a good start but I got stuck in the middle of the pack. Then I progressed little by little, quietly. Antonelli was behind me, and when he passed me I followed him to catch the riders in front of us, but 9 laps make a short race. I am happy, my lap times were good. It’s great for the team. Now I want to score points.” Michel Garnier (team owner): “We were leading this morning in the rain, and then there was this red flag. In the afternoon, Sylvain had a great start in the top 5. Sylvain did an intelligent race, he was patient. He took the 3rdposition at the right moment. This is a perfect weekend. It’s promising for the future in this championship. Gregg did a good race. He needs to learn the class. I expect him to do better starting from Donington.”
