Barrier 5^ème et Black 9^ème

Sylvain Barrier et Gregg Black ont fini dans le top 10 aujourd’hui à Donington. C’est très bon pour la position de Sylvain au championnat et pour la confiance de Gregg. Les deux pilotes ont fait du très bon travail sur les Yamaha R1 du Garnier Racing Team Junior. C’est une belle progression pour cette équipe qui débute en championnat Superstock 1000 face à des usines et des concurrents aguerris.

Après de bonnes séances d’essai, Sylvain Barrier s’élançait depuis la première ligne (3^ème temps) et Gregg Black de la seconde (8^ème). Le leader du championnat Xavier Siméon (Ducati) partait de la pole position et ses deux principaux adversaires au championnat Maxime Berger (Honda) et Claudio Corti (Suzuki) seulement de la 6^èmeligne.

Xavier Siméon s’élançait en tête et réalisait une course parfaite qui lui valait de passer la ligne d’arrivée en vainqueur. Sylvain Barrier était 2^ème dans le premier virage et Gregg Black 6^ème. Claudio Corti en Maxime Berger remontaient de la 6^ème ligne pour terminer 2^ème et 3^ème au terme d’une course magnifique. Sylvain faisait du mieux qu’il pouvait avec sa R1 et terminait 5^ème et premier des pilotes Yamaha. Gregg se bagarrait avec un groupe de bon pilotes et démontrait toute l’expérience qu’il a acquis depuis ses débuts dans ce championnat il y a 5 courses.

Ce fut une grande journée pour l’équipe et tout le monde est impatient de se retrouver à Brno pour la prochaine course. 

Gregg Black : « Enfin dans les points ! Je suis super content. J’ai pris un bon départ, j’étais 6^ème puis je me suis fait doubler et j’ai repassé plusieurs pilotes. J’avais un bon rythme. J’ai été un peu gêné par Schouten. J’ai eu un problème de grip à l’arrière. A 4 tours de la fin, Savary m’a passé, puis je l’ai redoublé. Je ne savais pas quand était le dernier tour. Je suis 9^ème – dans le top 10 – donc très content. On a bien bossé ce week-end. En course, j’ai tourné en 1’34, soit 1 seconde plus vite qu’aux essais. »

Michel Garnier, propriétaire du team : « C’est un week-end parfait. Nous sommes 5^èmes, on est à notre place. La Yamaha manque un peu de puissance. Elle est difficile à piloter. C’est un super résultat. Sylvain est 5^ème au championnat. On va essayer de faire mieux à Brno. Gregg a terminé son apprentissage. Aujourd’hui je l’ai lâché pour qu’il puisse s’exprimer. Il est 9^ème. Il montre qu’il peut faire du bon boulot. Je suis content des deux, ils ont fait un travail intelligent. »

Barrier 5^th and Black 9^th

Sylvain Barrier and Gregg Black finished in the top 10 today at Donington. This is good for the championship position of Sylvain and Gregg’s confidence. Both did a very good job racing the Yamaha R1s of the Garnier Racing Junior team. This is a nice step forward for the rookie team.

After a good qualifying session, Sylvain Barrier started from the first row (3^rd time) and Gregg Black from the second one (8^th time). The championship leader Xavier Simeon (Ducati) was on pole position and his main opponents for the title, Maxime Berger (Honda) and Claudio Corti (Suzuki) only from the sixth row.

Xavier Simeon started very well and kept the first position until the chequered flag. Sylvain Barrier was 2^nd in the first curve with Gregg Black in 6^th. Then Claudio Corti and Maxime Berger, who both came from the 6^th row, charged very hard to finish second and third after a terrific race. Sylvain Barrier did the best he could with his R1 and finished in 5^thposition, first of the Yamaha riders. Gregg was in a good group of good riders and displayed all the progress he has made since he started this rookie year 5 races ago.

This is a great day for the team and everybody looks forward to the next race in Brno.

Gregg Black: “Finally I score points! I am super happy! I started well and was 6^th in the early stage. Then some riders passed me, and then I overtook some of them. I had a good rhythm. Schouten slowed me down a little bit. I had some grip problem with the rear. With 4 laps to go, Savary passed me, and after that I passed him again. I finish 9^th – in top 10 – and that makes me very happy. We worked well this weekend. I did most laps in 1’34, which is 1 second quicker than during the practice sessions.” 

Michel Garnier (team owner): “This is a perfect weekend. Sylvain is 5^th, that’s our logical position. The Yamaha lacks power. It is difficult to ride. Our results are great. Sylvain is 5^th in the championship. We shall try to do better at Brno. Gregg has completed his learning experience. Today he could express himself. He finishes 9^th, I am delighted. He did a good job. I am happy with both riders. They did an intelligent work.”
